The first Label's Table Deli opened in 1974 in its current West Los Angeles location. Deli-restaurateurs, La Kaplan and Leo Haas say they had a simple concept: offer quality sandwiches and over-the-counter bulk sales at discounted prices in a no frills environment. Although the concept was simple, it enabled them to double their size within three years by building a strong, returning clientele. La Kaplan's son-in-law, Angelo Sospirato, joined the company in 1976. He brought with him expertise learned from working as the East Coast Training Manager for Denny's Restaurants, as well as experience in inventory and quality controls and employee procedures. Angelo bought Leo Haas' share of the business in 1978.
The second Southland store, located in Tarzana, opened in 1981. That same year, Bruce Krakoff, a part-time Label's employee and sales manager of the Vienna Sausage Company, became a partner and manager of the West Los Angeles location.
Fifteen years after opening their first deli, Label's opened the Woodland Hills location. They credit their simple philosophy of providing only the highest quality foods at competitive prices with providing the essential customer satisfaction that has allowed continual, steady company growth. As Bruce Krakoff says, "Attention to detail and personal touches are hallmarks of Label's Tables, and these are the competitive differences that will always keep the customer coming back."
